Takatu means 'well prepared', it's Pinot Gris a sophisticated, immaculate wine of real individuality.... It is skilfully made, shows impressive ripeness and concentration and carries the dry style well....I've set it aside for dinner - Michael Cooper.
However, the success of the Pinot Gris hasn't left the reds languishing Cooper views the 2005 Bordeaux-style red to be released under the Takatu label in 2007 as 'certainly one of the finest Matakana reds I've tasted'.
Michael Cooper applauds the Forsman's success. They've made a distinguished white and red wine early on in their career.....based on the fact that the vines are still very young, the future looks bright.
